How I Will Award Experience

Experience Points (XP) System

In this campaign, character growth is about more than just slaying monsters or surviving firefights. I reward creativity, narrative involvement, and meaningful choices. Here's how you’ll earn XP:

1 XP – Showing Up

You made time, logged in, and brought your character to life. Just being present earns you something. Consistency matters.

1 XP – Roleplaying & Character Development

Brought your character’s personality to the forefront? Took risks based on your flaws, background, or goals? Made us laugh, cry, or feel awkward in all the right ways? That’s worth a point.

1 XP – Exploration

This isn’t just about new places. Discover hidden lore, secrets, or pieces of the world that deepen our collective story—whether that’s a dusty tome in a haunted library or a stranger’s tale by the roadside.

1 XP – Surviving Combat

Live to fight another day. Whether through grit, strategy, or sheer luck, if you walk away breathing (or mostly intact), you’ve earned this.

1 XP – Avoiding Combat

Sometimes the smartest move is not to fight. If you talk your way out, sneak around, or find a clever workaround to a violent situation, that’s just as worthy of recognition.

1 XP – Gaining an Achievement

Did something impressive, hilarious, or just plain cool? Solved a tricky problem, pulled off an insane stunt, or won the day in an unexpected way? That’s a personal achievement, and it deserves reward.

Character Goals

Each player sets personal goals for their character—short-term or long-term. Once a goal is agreed upon, the GM assigns an XP value based on difficulty, scope, and narrative weight.

Example:

“Find my missing sister” – Worth 5 XP

“Get revenge on the gang that ruined my town” – Worth 3 XP

“Learn how to dance” – Worth 1 XP

The GM will determine when a goal has been meaningfully fulfilled and award the points at that time.

Character Arcs & Milestones

When your character completes a major personal arc or hits a campaign milestone—something big changes, either in your internal world or in the world around you—you’ll earn:

1–3 XP, based on impact and scope.

Arcs can be emotional (“Finally let go of the past”), practical (“Became the town sheriff”), or relationship-based (“Convinced my rival to become my ally”).

Final Notes

XP isn’t a scorecard—it’s a reflection of your journey, the risks you take, and the story you help build. Whether you’re carving a bloody path through your enemies or talking your way out of every situation, there’s more than one way to grow.

Let the story shape your character. Let your character shape the world.
